PVC Ceiling Tiles- The DIY Project You Never Knew You Needed

When it comes to residential or commercial renovation, you may want to take on the challenge of a DIY project to help cut down costs. One economical solution is PVC (polyvinyl chloride) ceiling tiles, which offer an easy and cost-effective way to upgrade your ceiling or walls. Want to know more about this DIY design project? Read on to learn all about the benefits of PVC ceiling tiles!

Some Basic Features of PVC Ceiling Tiles

PVC ceiling tiles can come in a variety of styles and colors. They can have specialized embossing to create a 3D effect and can even be handpainted for more variation. Some popular choices are wood-grain, metallic finishes, and a pearl sheen. These tiles are long-lasting and durable, being both waterproof and lightweight dustproof. Additionally, they are a breeze to clean, requiring only an occasional wipe down with mild detergent. Finally, they work in a variety of environments, such as homes, restaurants, hotels, offices, and more.

Easy To Install

One of the greatest advantages of PVC ceiling tiles is that they are a breeze to put up. Whether you plan on applying them to your ceiling or wall, these tiles only have to be glued on to a surface. Not only are they compatible with grid systems, drop-in, or suspended ceiling tiles, if you get those with overlapping edges, you can just adhere them to your existing ceiling! They can be installed onto most hard surfaces, such as plywood, drywall, and plaster. Additionally, these tiles can be conveniently cut to size with scissors or a box cutter.

Installing Your PVC Tiles

When installing, find the center of the space you want to cover and draw a 90-degree angle from that point to act as points of reference. You will start your tiles from the center and work your way to each side. Be sure to apply your adhesive to the tile and not the wall or ceiling. Apply the tile and press firmly, making sure to overlap the edges of each tile. You will have a couple of minutes to adjust before the adhesive dries.

Things To Keep In Mind

Remember to thoroughly clean all surfaces before you apply your PVC ceiling tiles. Remove any loose plaster, paint, wallpaper, and oily residue. You will also need adhesive (any good quality urethane or rubber based adhesive will do), a tape measure, a straight edge, scissors, box cutter,  and a cleaning cloth or moist sponge.

Soon, you will have a new and beautiful accent wall or ceiling! And our company carries a wide selection of PVC ceiling tiles to get you started on your DIY project. Visit us online today to explore our selection!

DIY Design Projects: Our Top 3 Picks To Upgrade Your Space

Renovating your space can be an expensive project to take on, whether for a home, restaurant, or office setting. What if you still want to upgrade your space without breaking the bank? A great route to take is simply doing the renovations yourself. And while you may not be able to do all the work a professional contractor can, there are still some things you can do on your own. With this in mind, here are our top 3 favorite DIY design projects to give your space a new look.

Try An Accent Wall

Redefine your space with an accent wall! Whether you want to stick to a monochromatic palette or a complimentary one, changing the color on one wall creates a dynamic look to your space. Plus, you can get cheap paint samples to test out what colors work best in your space. Just be sure to try out the colors when you have a good amount of daylight. This ensures you get the best idea of how it will look on a day to day basis.

Or take things up a notch by trying something with texture! Try faux brick wall panels or perhaps go for a more elegant look with a Glue Up Backsplash Rolls instead. Both painting and textured panels work great for commercial and residential spaces. And no matter which way you go, an accent wall is one of the best cost-effective DIY design projects out there.

Ceiling Tile DIY Design Projects

If you’re willing to try a wall, how about taking on the ceiling? Painting the ceiling an accent color is also a great way to add vibrancy to your space. But if you really want to make an impression, try glassless mirror ceiling tiles (which are easy to install and also shatter-proof). This will add light and height to your space, a definite win-win!

Or how about textured metal ceiling tiles? Copper, silver, and gold are classic choices. You can even find plastic PVC options for even easier installation and maintenance. The Benefits of Adding a Kitchen Backsplash to Your Kitchen

Whether you are in the midst of a complete home renovation or simply exploring your options for spicing up a few elements, a kitchen backsplash is the ultimate solution. With various types of materials as well as various designs, the possibilities are endless. As a bonus, aside from being aesthetically pleasing, backsplashes are also very functional for the kitchen. Let’s explore.

Kitchen backsplash is easier to clean.

Backsplash makes cleaning a breeze. This means that the materials used are generally smooth and cohesive. This minimizes tough crevices. The kitchen can be the messiest room in the house, especially behind the oven and the sink. Backsplash makes it easier to clean these areas.

It protects the walls.

Whether you have bare walls or wallpaper behind the backsplash, this added layer of protection serves to keep any grime or residue off the walls. This increases the longevity of your kitchen. Without a backsplash, splattered food and other kitchen messes can get stuck on the walls.

It looks great.

Kitchen backsplash can be the most eye-catching part of a kitchen. There are several unique decorative options that can transform a kitchen as if the entire room had been remodeled.

At Ceiling Tiles By Us, we offer a variety of kitchen backsplash, including decorative glue up backsplash, wall panel covering, and metal backsplash. Explore our selection here or reach out to discuss what you’re looking for!

Bendable Crown Molding: Enhance Your Renovation Flexibility

When making home renovations, cutting corners for cost is generally a slippery slope. After all, you wouldn’t want to get a cheap foundation and then find down the line that your house is sinking into the ground. However, the biggest place you can save money during a home renovation is in accent pieces. Namely: bendable crown molding. Not only is it incredibly useful, it will also save you a pretty penny.

It is extremely functional.

Bendable crown molding is useful for a variety of purposes. It is most useful when providing trim on rooms where the walls aren’t straight lines only. For example, tracing curves in walls/ceilings/floors is a strong suit for bendable crown molding. It bends to form-fit the shape of the room (hence the name). Likewise, this molding is great for covering different wires, pipes, and anything else that may run from one room to another.

It is cost effective.

Because bendable crown molding is not stiff material, costs are low. This makes the molding very affordable without compromising the quality and functionality of this product. The molding can provide a home renovation an elegant quality without having to fork out a ton of money on this aspect of the renovation. Another way that this type of crown molding is special is that it is customizable with paint to provide a variety of different looks for your home renovation.

At Ceiling Tiles By Us, we offer bendable crown molding in a variety of materials to meet your home renovation needs.

How Drop-In Ceiling Tiles Can Provide Insulation

Did you think that ceiling tiles were only for show? Aw, shucks. Easy mistake. Contrary to popular belief, though, ceiling tiles can be much more. Certain types of ceiling tiles can provide quite a bit of functionality in addition to their aesthetic presence. In fact, drop-in ceiling tiles can provide insulation. Curious how? We’ll show you.

Drop-in ceiling tiles

The gist of drop-in ceiling tiles.

If you’re anything like the majority of the population who rents instead of owns and has little to no working knowledge of home construction, the idea of drop-in ceiling tiles might not mean a thing to you. Let us explain. This relatively new design of ceiling tiles works by ceiling tiles being inserted into a T-grid of support beams that are hung from the internal ceiling. This creates an open space between the ceiling and the tiles themselves.

How in the world they provide insulation.

The space that is provided by the drop-in ceiling tiles is functional for a variety of reasons. For one, it allows for easy electrical wiring, plumbing, and HVAC ducting. It also provides a pretty good acoustic barrier in the house. This space, too, provides consistent air pressure on the ceiling tiles which keep them in place. If the ceiling tiles are properly sealed in the T-grid shape, they are allowed to function at their full potential based on the amount of insulation that each individual ceiling tile provides (some are better than others.)

Ceiling Tiles By Us offers a wide selection of drop-in ceiling tiles. To find out more about how this design can provide insulation, reach out today.
